Where the land meets the rhythm of the sea.

30 million years in the making, Punakaiki is one of the most iconic coastal destinations on the West Coast, known for its dramatic limestone formations, powerful ocean swells, and lush rainforest. Sitting between Westport and Greymouth, it’s a place where natural forces are on full display

Why Visit Punakaiki?

Punakaiki is all about contrast – dense rainforest meets wild coastline, and calm walks sit alongside crashing waves.

Visitors come here to witness the famous Pancake Rocks and blowholes, but what stays with you is the atmosphere.

The sound of the ocean, the salt in the air, and the feeling of standing at the edge of something untamed.
